Hello Creative Mommies! Today you will learn a DIY project that is very popular and I’m sure you have seen it before. I wanted to do this one for a while and I finally got around to do it. It was so easy and I was very happy with the end result.
Keep in mind, I used what I already had at home to complete this project. You can do 1 letter of more using 1 color sharpie or more. I do recommend to use more than 1 color sharpie to get really fancy results. Here is what you will need:
I purchased these sticky letters at Michael’s but you can find letters in many different places nowadays. All different styles too so get creative!
Place the letter(s) on the mug whichever way you’d like.
Dot around the letter(s) – the more dots you put, the more it will stand out.
Remove the letter(s) carefully (if you need to make any corrections, do so now using rubbing alcohol and a q-tip) then place in the oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
NOTE: I preheated the oven then inserted the mug and after the 30 minutes, I removed it and left it out to cool. For long-lasting results hand wash all customized mugs. Also remember, if you use bright color sharpies, the color will darken after heating.
What I like about this DIY is that you can personalize it with practically anything you want. You can use shapes, letters, numbers or your own design. I regret not knowing about this DIY before. I would’ve loved to do this when I had to gift co workers. I mean how cool would it be to get a personalized mug!
There you have it, an inexpensive DIY with a personal touch that can either be your next gift or your own awesome mug to enjoy your favorite drink.
Now go ahead and create your own! Would love to see how it turns out so feel free to share.
